Another day, another scandal for the Bush Administration and White House, what now? The Attorney General was being questioned about the recent firing of eight US Attorneys has waffled to say the least. What we have come to know from the Congressional hearings is that the former White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales, current Attorney General and head of the Justice Department had choreographed the dismissal of not just 8 US Attorney’s, but had considered dismissing all 93, while still a member of the White House Counsel. All made possible under law by recent changes in the Patriot Act, making it permissible to replace Federal judges without congressional approval. All that would be need is a mere stroke of the pen and bullet proof vest to resist the onslaught of public criticism. The lineup of those conspiring with the Bush Administration are: Attorney General – Alberto Gonzales, Karl Rove, Harriet Miers, Kyle Sampson and the Patriot Act.

Were Karl Rove’s hands on the controls, dictating the strategy of who, what, when, where and how to maintain power and influence through the force? The Bush Administration’s willingness to lie to America repeatedly as to protect its true objective is abhorrent! The US governmental system is set up to have checks and balances between the Judicial, Legislative and Administrative braches. The Bush Administration controlled all three, and willed that power to change laws and terrorize it owns citizens. Will making Alberto Gonzales and/or Kyle Sampson the goats for the follies of poor judgment protect Karl Rove?  What else do you think is hiding in the Bush, rattle or tattle snakes bite?

 In the summer of 2002, high-level Bush administration officials met to debate secretly a delicate issue: how aggressively could the CIA interrogate terror suspects? While the lawyers from Justice, Defense and the vice president’s office hotly debated definitions of torture (at times discussing specific interrogation techniques), Gonzales, who was then the White House counsel, sat by and said virtually nothing. The attorney general’s behavior was typical, say administration officials who have worked with him.  Two days after that presser, however, the White House turned over newly discovered e-mails showing that Gonzales, while he was still on the job at the White House in January 2005, had “briefly” discussed the idea of firing attorneys. (A Justice Department spokeswoman said Gonzales had “no recollection” of that.) The e-mails showed that Kyle Sampson, then a top aide to Attorney General John Ashcroft and later Gonzales’s chief of staff, talked about the possible purge of “15-20 percent” of the U.S.

The e-mails also showed that Bush’s chief political adviser, Karl Rove, had “stopped by” to ask a White House lawyer “how we planned to proceed regarding US Attorneys, whether we are going to allow all to stay, request resignations from all and accept only some of them, or selectively replace them, etc.” Sampson warned that firing all the U.S. attorneys could cause political problems. “That said,” Sampson wrote, “if Karl thinks there would be political will to do it, then so do I.” 

The conflicting accounts have spurred congressional investigators to cry cover-up. Democrats are now pushing to get White House officials, especially Rove, on the witness stand. The White House will probably argue that it would set a bad precedent to allow congressmen to grill the president’s personal advisers and rummage through their files. But since the White House has already started releasing confidential e-mails, it will have more difficulty making the familiar case for Executive Privilege.

Scooter – Dry Snitch, Ain’t that a Bi…

Scotter Libby

Dry Snitch, the urban lingo for “indirectly telling on someone” – Standing within earshot of someone, saying loudly what you want that person to overhear, and then letting that person run and spread the information.   

The Democrat party is rejoicing at the news about Scooter Libby.  No, not that he was convicted on 4 of the 5 counts, but the news that he plans to appeal.  “Has Christmas come early, did I forget about some Hallmark calendar day, is this a holiday in some other country”, the Democrats are thinking to themselves, but I feel happy!

 

Libby’s defense team had guided the courts to believe that they would prove that their client was a scapegoat for the Bush Administration, Carl Rove and faulty memory on the parts of other witnesses.  None of that was proven; neither Vice President Cheney nor Libby took the stand in his defense.  Was it that Scooter was told that he would have to take this one for the team, “you know what happens to people we don’t like…..”

The longer Libby provides the American public access to how the Bush Administration works, the more likely Hillary or Barack will be the next President.

MSNBC Reported (WASHINGTON) – Vice President Dick Cheney’s former chief of staff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, was convicted Tuesday of lying and obstructing an investigation into the leak of a CIA operative’s identity. Libby is the highest-ranking White House official to be convicted of a felony since the Iran-Contra scandal of the mid-1980s. The conviction focused renewed attention on the Bush administration’s much-criticized handling of weapons of mass destruction intelligence in the run-up to the Iraq war. 

The verdict culminated an almost four-year investigation into how CIA operative Valerie Plame’s name was leaked to reporters in 2003. The trial revealed how top members of the Bush administration were eager to discredit Plame’s husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, who accused the administration of doctoring prewar intelligence on Iraq. Libby faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced June 5 but under federal sentencing guidelines is likely to be sentenced to far less. Defense attorneys immediately promised to request a new trial or appeal the conviction.

Choose your words carefully – Scooter

The Lewis “Scooter” Libby trial is less about Scooter, than it is about getting to the underbelly of the Bush Administration.  We have been told numerous times that the Bush Administration has another agenda, that’s why they have difficulty telling the truth.  The Bush Administration time and time again has shown an ability to get what they want, even when the facts don’t support the initiatives or objectives.  Libby has already testified to a Grand Jury, what more do we need to know about his actions and authorization for his actions?

The November 2006 elections put the political strategies of Carl Rove front and center.  Carl could not come up with a strategy to save the Republican control of the House and Senate in the last election, in the face of an unpopular war.  The Bush Administration could not fire Rove for his lack of success in plotting the party line to control Congress, because he knows too much about the how the spinning from truth to policy takes place.  Rove is President Bush’s buddy and right hand man.  Rove now sits in a quiet corner office out of public view! 

Well, Vice President Cheney’s keeper of the policy edics, translator of spin, is now on trial.  Scooter Libby is on trial for the alleged leaking of the CIA agents name to the press.  This trial has less to do with the leak than it does the about ripping the Republican Party to shreds.  All the negative press works in the favor of having Hillary Clinton elected President.

Indicted ex-Cheney aide told grand jury of White House approval

APRIL 6–A former top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney told a federal grand jury that President George W. Bush authorized him to leak information from a classified intelligence report to a New York Times reporter. Details of I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby’s testimony were included in a court filing made yesterday by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, who is prosecuting Libby for perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements in connection with the probe into the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame’s identity. According to Fitzgerald’s filing, an excerpt of which you’ll find below, Libby, 55, testified in 2003 that he provided reporter Judith Miller with information from a classified National Intelligence Estimate after being told by Cheney that Bush “specifically had authorized” him to “disclose certain information in the NIE.” Libby also testified that Cheney specifically directed him to speak to other reporters about information in the classified NIE (which addressed
Iraq‘s purported weapons of mass destruction programs) as well as a cable authored by Plame’s husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson. The leaking of the classified material was apparently done in an effort to counter claims made by Wilson regarding the White House’s justification for invading Iraq. The Fitzgerald filing also notes that Libby told grand jurors that he conferred with David Addington, Cheney’s counsel, about the leak directive and that Addington told him “that Presidential authorization to publicly disclose a document amounted to a declassification of the document.”

As the attention to the Illinois Senator becomes a national debate, swipes have already been taken to associate his name with nefarious characters. Senator Ted Kennedy, Bill O’Reily Fox News, to likes of Rush Limbaugh have all quipped the Obama – Osama intentional slight of tongue Freudian slip. Limbaugh uses Barack’s full name in his broadcast, branding and ingraining the association if only in name, but with intent. The Illinois Senator is worthy of praise and represents a changing political tapestry in America.

Three Blind Mice Three blind mice, three blind mice see how they run.  Just a nursery rhyme, hardly; a political satire with deadly consequences for the mice and American.  Have you ever heard of Bloody Mary, which was tagged to a person before it was tagged to a drink?  The original rhyme is a political satire as a creative means of criticizing the ruling families harsh judgment and execution of those that challenged their judgment; Bloody Mary to be exact.

Three Blind Mice is a children’s nursery rhyme.

Three blind mice. Three blind mice. See how they run. See how they run. They all ran after the farmer’s wife Who cut off their tails with a carving knife. Did you ever see such a thing in your life As three blind mice? 

The rhyme originated in the 16th century, when Queen Mary I of England (the “farmer’s wife,” so called because she owned a lot of farmland) executed three Protestant bishops—Hugh Latimer, Nicholas Ridley, and Thomas Cranmer—(the “three blind mice”) for plotting against her.

Role the clock forward, who might the modern day 3 blind mice be: House of Representative Republicans (mouse #1), Senate Republicans (mouse #2) and Former Secretary of Defense – Donald Rumsfeld ((mouse #3).The recent election leaves this collection of mice all without a tale (or ass) because they got chewed when the vote was counted.  The election was less about the candidates and more about Americans displeasure with the blind trust of the Bush Administration to lead. 

The Prodigal Returns (except from Newsweek Magazine)the Song of Moses: “Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations; ask thy father, and he will show thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.”  Ask thy father, and he will show thee: advice that, at long last, George W. Bush seems to be taking. Last week the president lost both houses of Congress and 16 more Americans died in Iraq, bringing the U.S. death toll to 2,844, with little discernible progress in sight. The war there has now lasted 44 months, the amount of time that elapsed between Pearl Harbor and VJ Day.  

The Bush Legacy may have its own 3 blind mice:  President George #41, President GW #43 and brother Jeb (Governor of Florida).  Three blind mice see how they run!!!  Blind ambition, foolish pride and poor judgment has the world is disarray; how will history judge this trio.   

The decisions being made now have lasting affects, lets see what the lame duck Republicans do on their way out the door, and what the new Democratic Party controlled congress does to rectify the situations.  Renaissances or Revolution; changes for the masses.  Remember and learn from the past so you don’t have to repeat it.

Terror Inside the Borders – “Habeas Corpus”

To continue on the theme of “Terror” and “Terrorist”,
Keith Olberman of MSNBC seems to be trumpeting the voice of the liberal media to counter the madness and spin doctors of the Republican Party.  Olbermann’s frequent rants on the Bush administration have more of a ring of “Fair and Balanced”, more so than the slogan carrying Fox News; the quaff of the Republican political majority.

 

 

The Bush Administration’s repeal of “Habeas Corpus”, the “Patriot Act” and other policies has eroded the fundamentals of the American civil liberties established over 200 years ago.  The recently signed “Military Commissions Act 2006” does away with “Habeas Corpus”; the rights against imprisonment without charge, and trail without defense, further it allows the CIA to use aggressive interrogation techniques (notice the root word “terror”) as long as it does not cause serious mental or physical pain.

 

 

The basis for all of this, we are at WAR against a new enemy.  The World Trade Centers fall on 9/11 over 3,000 killed.  We know that Osama is responsible; we send 10,000 troops to capture him.  We think that Saddam Hussein has WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) we send in over 300,000 troops, more than 3,000 soldiers killed or injured, body count continues moving upward.  Neither the US nor anybody else in the world finds any WMDs’.  The Republican Congress majority and the Supreme Court revises, and assaults the Constitution for the Bush Administration; 300,000,000 US citizens harmed!

 

 

The terror is inside our own borders!  Pay attention to history, vote, so that you have a representative voice.  You don’t always have to agree with congress, but there needs to be a “Fair and Balanced” approach to the justification of modifying the constitutional basis of our society. What is your definition of “an unlawful enemy combatant”?  This is the key term, “an unlawful enemy combatant” ambiguous enough; you get that label slapped on you and you can kiss your ass goodbye; you may never be heard from again.  Anybody seen Manuel Noriega lately?

 

 

Renaissance or Revolution you choose; but something gotta change for the masses, and this is not what I had in mind!
