  1. We are requesting your assistance in building the LAWNDALE AREA COMMUNITY FAMILY CENTER. We ask of this so that the families might be able to have a better choice for the young ones to exhaust some of their nervous energy that they exert in gangs and on the corner of the streets. We can curtail some of their action if we give them an alternative. We are pleading with you to help us build this center. It is commonly known if children are given a safe haven from the streets, have some place to express themselves and to relieve stress they do better in the classroom which will produce PRODUCTIVE children.

Outlined below are just a few of the programs the community center will offer:
 Tutoring (i.e., mathematics, speech, computer lab and analytical thinking)
 HIV/AIDS Health Awareness (HIV Prevention and Substance-Abuse Program)
 Senior Citizens Awareness and Education of and Access to Preventive Health Care
     GED (General Educational Development)
 Occupational Training, Computer Literacy, Referrals and Placement
 Recreational (skating and bowling alley)
For more information regarding our community center, please visit our website at: http://www.voiceoflawndaleonline.blogspot.com.

Ms. Jordan, we would appreciate your donation but we would truly prefer your hosting a fundraiser on behalf of the community center to help us meet our goal and any media attention of our forthcoming fundraising rally which is scheduled for Saturday, May 26, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 P.m. at 1601 S. Central Park Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.

All checks should be made payable to: Lawndale Area Community Family Center, Charter One Bank.

We look forwarding to hearing from you and hope we can count on your support.

    Very truly yours,

    Rosemary Harris
    Chairperson/President
    RH/dmn
